Miller Commercial Real Estate Advisors Bob Rich and Tom Knopp recently found a unique buyer to purchase and repurpose an old feed mill in Laurel, DE. The 17 acre light industrial property located at 33222 Bi-State Boulevard in Laurel, DE will be repurposed to suit the needs of the buyer, Proximity Malt.
Proximity Malt, LLC plans to process locally grown grains such as barley, wheat and rye into malt to serve craft breweries around the region. The plant is expected to have a production capacity of 25,000 tons of malted grain per year, and will employ 20-25 people once in operation. “This is an exciting, progressive and new industry for the Delmarva Peninsula,” said Advisor Bob Rich. “The addition of jobs and investment in the area is significant economic development news for Sussex County.” Advisor Tom Knopp said, “This is a huge asset for the State of Delaware and the surrounding farm community.”
