3rd Friday January

January 15th, 2016 from 5-8pm is the next 3rd Friday in Downtown Salisbury!  Even in the winter months, without the artisans and crafters outside on the streets, there is still tons to do and see on 3rd Fridays!  Enjoy shopping, gallery-hopping, dining or enjoy the great live entertainment scheduled all over Downtown Salisbury.

3rd Friday is a shopper’s paradise, with the downtown shops and boutiques open late with special events and sales!  Angello’s Unique Gifts always has new inventory to explore, Kuhn’s Jewelers is the perfect place to find something sparkly for your special someone, and The Art Institute & Galleries’ Martha Gue Gift Shop, in the Gallery Building, will be open til 8pm!  Barefoot Baby Boutique will stay open til 6 so shoppers can take advantage of their massive year-end clearance sale and to register little ones ages three and under for the new Read and Learn Club.  Plus, DelMarvalous Occasions will be hosting a 3rd Friday Prom Party, with special guest make-up artists Andrea Bounds.  It’s your chance to ask the experts all of your prom questions, complete with cupcakes and door prizes!

Salisbury University Art Galleries | Downtown Campus will hold an opening reception for its brand new exhibition from 5-8pm.  Piece by Piece by Laura Petrovich – Cheney is literally pieced together wooden debris left behind in the devastation of Hurricane Sandy; floorboards, window frames, pieces of cabinets. Inspired by the geometry of American quilts, she uses recurrent block patterns to explore ideas rooted in the repetition of life and celebrates putting one’s life back together, literally piece by piece.

Down on Poplar Hill Avenue, The Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council will celebrate 3rd Friday indoors by hosting Arts on SWAC Street | A 3RD Friday Arts Mini-Mall:  January Jam in its elevator-accessible loft space above Season’s Best Antiques from 5-8pm.  Join SWAC to enjoy food drink, kids crafts, and local artisans, crafters and more!  Live entertainment from Ted Nichols & Drums Around the World, Hunter Wirt & The Mardela High School Band, and rock guitarists Alex and Dave Jester of the “Alex & Dad Duo”.

Headquarters Live welcomes award-winning, Grammy-nominated legends, Seldom Scene!  The famous bluegrass ensemble will be joined by the Shore’s very own Saltwater Stringband for a night of top-notch, toe-tapping entertainment.  This is an 18+ show, doors open at 7, show starts at 8.  Tickets are $35 for seats and $20 for standing, so order online in advance to ensure you get a seat!

The downtown bars and restaurants are also ready for a night filled with special events and entertainment.  For the dinner crowd, Sushi de Kanpai, Mojo’s and Market Street will have fabulous specials and quiet dining.  Roadie Joe’s will have dinner specials for the whole family and acoustic music by James Darley from 5:30 – 8:30 and Dust N Bones rocking out late night from ten til two.  The Brick Room will have happy hour from 4-7, live music from Union Road from nine to midnight, and reverse happy hour from 10 til close!

3F is an all-volunteer effort, a downtown economic development initiative and a project of the Salisbury Arts & Entertainment District Committee.  For More Information:  3rdFridaySby.com
