Community Foundation President Erica Joseph Awarded Maryland Leading Women Honor

The Daily Record, a statewide newspaper based in Baltimore, has announced the selection of Erica Joseph, president of the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, (CFES) to receive the Maryland 2015 Leading Women award.

The Daily Record’s Leading Women awards honor 50 women who are 40 years of age or younger for the accomplishments they have made so far in their careers. “On behalf of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, we are very proud of Erica’s award and are honored that she serves as the president of our organization,” said Melody Nelson, CFES Board Chair. “Erica’s leadership has provided both strength and direction to the Community Foundation. Her impact is important to our growth and focus as we help donors enhance the amount and impact of charitable giving, for causes that matter here on the Lower Eastern Shore,” Nelson added.

The Daily Record launched the Leading Women awards in 2010 to recognize the next generation of Maryland’s women leaders.

Nominees for Leading Women were asked to complete an application that outlined their education and career history, examples of mentoring, career-related officer and board memberships in professional, business or trade organizations, volunteer involvement in civic and nonprofit organizations, awards and honors, professional accomplishments, and commitment to inspiring change in their organization or the community.

“Leading Women honorees are climbing the career ladder and also balancing home, work, mentoring, education and community commitments,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, publisher of The Daily Record. “They are Maryland’s future, and The Daily Record is proud to recognize their accomplishments as they become leaders in their fields and in their communities.”
