The Optical Science Center of Applied Research project was a new 28,090-square-foot lab built on the Delaware State University campus in Dover, DE to further the education of students interested in the optical sciences. This project won an excellence award from the ABC Delaware Chapter.

The new 20,000-square-foot performing arts center at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center in Ocean City, MD includes a 1,200-seat auditorium, a stage, two levels of fixed seating, an orchestra pit, dressing rooms, concession area, and box office. The Kalmar Nyckel Foundation’s new Copeland Maritime Center totals 21,360-square-feet. The first floor has areas committed to making improvements or repairs to the Kalmar Nyckel ship, while the second floor houses a scale model of the ship, and the third floor has offices for staff and volunteers. This project won an excellence award from the Delaware Contractors Association.

“Congratulations to all employees involved with the award-winning projects,” said Nickle President/CEO Steve Dignan. “You’ve all worked very hard and these accolades are well-deserved.”

Nickle now holds a total of 35 Excellence in Construction Awards. The honors were presented at various celebration dinners across Delaware and the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

About Nickle Electrical Companies

Nickle Electrical Companies was founded in 1986 by the late Paul Allen Nickle as Paul A. Nickle, Inc. Electrical Contractors. Current owners Steve and Debbie Dignan acquired the company in 1991 and in 2008 the name was changed to Nickle Electrical Companies to better represent the company as a whole. The 160 employees work within an 80-mile radius of the company’s two locations, Newark and Georgetown, and perform commercial, industrial, residential, and service electrical work. The mission is to safely provide exceptional electrical services within a culture built on quality, integrity, and accountability. The company’s commitment to these values has been integral to the successful procurement of more than 30 ABC Excellence in Construction awards.
