SACC’s Young Entrepreneurs Academy Receives $5,000 Donation from Pohanka Automotive Group

The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce received a $5,000 donation from Pohanka Automotive Group to support the Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!). This donation makes Pohanka Automotive the Local Champion sponsor giving them an exclusive judging seat when students present their ideas at the YEA! Investor Panel event this spring. It also entitles them to an exclusive seat at the CEO Roundtable where community leaders will discuss their roles, companies, background and offer helpful business advice to the YEA! students. YEA! is an innovative, afterschool program that transforms local middle and high school students into real entrepreneurial successes.

The YEA! program hosted by the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce takes students between the ages of 11 and 18 through the process of starting and launching a real business or social movement over the course of an academic year. By the end of the class, students own and operate fully-formed and functioning businesses, which may be carried on after their graduation from the program. The YEA! program will be hosted at the BEACON suite at Salisbury University in the Franklin P. Perdue School of Business starting in November. The 2015-2016 class will be the 1st YEA! class on the Eastern Shore.
